This is a rhetorical question, but I'm willing to entertain any answers. Why do members of a certain political party break rules and laws with an almost assured impunity, and when finally this corruption can’t be ignored any longer its prosecution is merely a slap of the wrist.

The press believes that corruption is only bad when the GOP does it. Liberal corruption is a necessary evil and can be safely ignored.
